Bushey flats will soon be able to recycle
Bushey residents living in flats, will soon be have access to recycling facilities, according to Hertsmere Borough Council.
Communal bins for paper, plastic bottles and cans will be installed at blocks that have not had facilities previously and where it is possible to do so. Special bags will also be provided for residents who have to carry their recycling to the bins.
Councillor Jean Heywood, environment portfolio holder, said: “We have been working with local housing associations to see where bins can go at flats across Hertsmere.
“The scheme will start to be rolled out in the next few months and will help make it easier for more residents to recycle their waste.
“Hertsmere is currently recycling at a rate of around 40 per cent which is really great news and the scheme will help us build on this and divert even more waste from landfill,” added cllr Heywood.
Full details of the scheme will be delivered to homes as and when the scheme rolls out to each block.
